Use the advanced scanner ip , modify the ip of your machine and put 192.168.1.1, 255.255.0.0 and leave the gateway blank.
START THE ADVANCED IP SCANNER and set it to start at your ip and end at the last of that range (192.168.1.1-192.168.255.255).
It will start searching and find the ip of your dvr. With that you configure your gateway with that IP found and now if you can enter by telnet.

Normally the password to access remotely is the same one used to configure the DVR settings. If the password you have to enter the settings directly on the DVR, most likely it is the same one you will use when accessing the computer.
